Lachen

Lachen is a town in North Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim.[1] It is located at an elevation of 2,750 metres. The name Lachen means "big pass". The town is being promoted as a tourist destination by the Sikkimese government. The town forms the base to the Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. An annual yak race, the Thangu is held here in summer.

Chopta Valley

Chopta Valley Lachen. Lachen's most shining gem of all, Chopta Valley lies sprawled at an altitude of 4023 m on the way to Gurudongmar Lake. Despite of being a tourist hotspot, Chopta valley is able to maintain itself as a pristine and tranquil destination.

Gurudongmar Lake

Gurudongmar Lake. Gurudongmar is a high altitude lake close to Tibet border in North Sikkim. It is the land of Yaks, blue ships and other high altitude animals of Sikkim and Tibet. The snow-fed milky water of the lake is one of the major sources of Tista, the most important river in Sikkim and North Bengal.
